OXFORD, NC (April 19, 2010) – Granville Health System (GHS) announced the first quarter winners of the Essential Piece Award for fiscal year 2010. The winners were nominated by GHS team members to recognize outstanding performance in one or more of the five categories directly linked to Granville Health System’s strategic plan: service, people, quality, finance and growth.

The Essential Piece is the highest level of recognition Granville Health System awards throughout the year to a select group of its team members who demonstrate outstanding performance in the given categories.

The Essential Piece award program was instituted by Granville Health System’s 3R (Recruitment, Recognition and Retention) Committee in October 2007 to recognize associates that go above and beyond their normal responsibilities to make a positive impact at Granville Health System.

Each month, team members who have been nominated by their co-workers for outstanding performance are recognized and receive a gold puzzle pin to wear on their name badge. The 3R Committee ranks each person nominated and the top scoring individual is chosen to receive the Essential Piece award for the month. The winner receives the gold puzzle pin along with various other prizes. In addition, the winner’s name and picture are posted on the puzzle board that is displayed in the main lobby at Granville Medical Center.

At the end of each quarter, a quarterly winner is chosen from among the monthly first place winners. Likewise, at the end of the fiscal year an annual winner is chosen from among the quarterly winners.

The following GHS team members were honored in the first quarter of fiscal year 2010 with Essential Piece awards:
