GHS Recognizes Essential Piece Winner

Oxford, NC (April 3, 2014) – Granville Health System (GHS) announced that Thelma Hill from the Laboratory Department at Granville Medical Center is the Essential Piece winner for the month of February.

Essential Piece recognition is presented each month to a GHS employee demonstrating outstanding performance in the categories of service, people, quality, finance and growth.

Thelma was nominated by her co-worker for working well beyond her shift hours and covering for fellow employees that were unable to get to work during the recent snowstorm. “Thelma showed accountability, teamwork, and respect for her co-workers and patients by coming in early and leaving late in anticipation of the poor road conditions,” says Jan Hart, Laboratory Director, “she can always be counted on.”

Essential Piece winners are given various prizes and gift cards. They also receive an “Essential Piece” pin from their department leader and are recognized in front of their peers at a department meeting. The winner’s name is posted on the health system’s intranet and the picture is posted on a board along with the previous winners.
