GHS to Expand Food Services and Renovate Granville Medical Center's Cafeteria
Granville Health System (GHS) announced that the hospital will begin renovations on the existing Granville Medical Center cafeteria during the week of December 6. Hours of operation and food services will not be affected throughout the project. GHS Food & Nutrition Services will begin operating in the first floor temporary dining area on Thursday, December 9. Entrance to the temporary dining area will be located near the first floor lobby elevators. Directional signage will be installed to help facilitate the transition.
The $350,000 dollar project will be managed by Hardin Construction Company and is scheduled for completion by late January. Morrison Management Specialists, a national award winning food service company, provides oversight for GHS Food Services and has provided support on the project.

For a popular hospital cafeteria already known for its quality menu, the project will address an increasing demand for food services on the Granville Health System campus. Since 2005, the hospital’s emergency department has seen increases of more than 1,000 visits per year. Inpatient, outpatient and surgical services have also increased by 4%, 38% and 23%, respectively. Along with the increased demand for patient care and supporting staff, the volume of hospital visitors has also grown. In addition to an expanded seating capacity, the new dining area and its amenities will improve patient care and give patients and their families a more comfortable environment during their stay.
“The renovations to the space and the additions we’re planning for our menu will play a part in our commitment to ensure that our patients and their families receive exceptional care and service,” said Carolyn F. Hill, Senior Director of Support Services for Granville Health System. “Our patients’ experience begins as soon as they arrive on our campus and we want every part of their experience to reflect our commitment to provide them with quality medical care and customer service.”
Aesthetically, the renovated space will feature new furniture, flooring and a conference room. The plan also calls for an expanded menu, featuring a new grill with rotating menus, a full deli offering fresh made to order sandwiches and salads, and a rotating Italian bar with calzones, strombolies and pizza. Healthy options will be available to diners at the new Chef’s Table with stir fry, chicken and shrimp dishes.
The project underscores Granville Health System’s commitment to reinvest back into the community. Last year GHS was named to the Community Value Index Five-Star hospitals list. The Community Value Index (CVI) ranking measures the financial value hospitals bring to their service areas and places Granville Health System within the top 20% of hospitals in the United States in providing financial value to the communities they serve.
