Granville Health System Named Top Hospital for 4th Straight Year
The American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHP) has named Granville Health System (GHS) as one of the top hospitals in the country in their 2012 Hospital of Choice Awards, announced January 20, 2012.
This award recognizes America’s “most customer-friendly hospitals,” according to Ric Vincent Parr, President of AAHP. It is “designed to find America’s most customer-friendly hospitals based either on an extensive application process, or by a review of a facility’s public communication and staff interaction with customers,” according to a press release from the Alliance.
Each year, AAHP evaluates approximately 400 hospitals for consideration of this award. The application process requires a review of six principal areas of consideration including Standards of Conduct, Performance Management and Improvement, Staff Development and Training, Systems of Communication, Good Citizenship, and Educational and Promotional Material available to consumers.
“We are pleased to be the only North Carolina hospital recognized as one of the top customer-friendly hospitals in the country,” said L. Lee Isley, GHS Chief Executive Officer. “The AAHP seeks out and recognizes hospitals that care about their patients. This award certainly underscores the high level of quality care provided by our dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff. Our community can be assured that Granville Health System will continue to invest further in the hospital, supporting our commitment to deliver new medical programs, new technologies and expanded services to the area.”
Granville Health System is the only hospital in the Carolinas (NC and SC) to receive this designation and shares this distinction with, among others, these hospitals:
• John’s Hopkins, Baltimore
• Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, San Francisco
• University of California Davis Medical Center
• Children’s National Medical Center
• George Washington University Hospital
• Children’s Hospital of Boston
• Mayo Clinic
• Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville
“Granville Health System has always believed that our community deserves the very best care possible,” said L.C. Adcock, Chairman of the GHS Board of Trustees. “This award signifies that our hospital’s commitment to our patients remains unparalleled in North Carolina.”
The Award recognizes hospitals that have a proven track record in successfully meeting or exceeding the expectations of their patients and have earned the respect and admiration of the physicians who refer their patients. It rewards hospitals that:
• go beyond their walls in pursuit of excellence and quality care
• collaborate with physicians and health care organizations in the community
• collaborate with managed care organizations and other payors
“Winning the Hospital of Choice Award year after year shows our commitment to providing our patients with quality care and excellent customer service,” said Isley. “GHS will continue to focus on quality, patient safety and consistently providing an unrivaled health care experience.”
