Granville Health System to Host Free Diabetes Education Classes

Oxford, NC (August 15, 2016) – Granville Health System (GHS) will be working with Alliant Quality, the Medicare Quality Innovation Network - Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for North Carolina to offer a free Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP).


The DEEP program is a series of interactive classes taught by a certified diabetes educator and designed to help Oxford area residents with diabetes or pre-diabetes take control of their diabetes through nutrition, exercise, stress management and goal setting. Uncontrolled diabetes increases a person’s risk of complications such as blindness, kidney disease, and amputations.


Class participants will meet in the Education Classroom at Granville Medical Center from 3:30pm-5:30pm on the following dates:

Thursday, September 15 – First Class
Thursday, September 22 
Thursday, September 29
Thursday, October 6 
Thursday, October 13 
Thursday, October 20 – Graduation


Family members, caregivers and friends are welcome to attend. To gain the most from the program, attendance at every session is highly encouraged. Pre-registration for these free classes is required.
