Granville Health System Welcomes Back Dr. J. Randall Byrd to South Granville Medical Center

Granville Health System is pleased to announce that J. Randall Byrd, M.D. is now seeing patients at Granville Primary Care, Butner-Creedmoor. Dr. Byrd is a well-known physician in the community and an advocate for quality medical care. He sees patients on a walk-in basis treating medical conditions, injury, illness, and occupational health.

Dr. Byrd and his team are equipped to provide immediate care for acute injury and illness. Sports physicals and employment physicials are also offered. The office is equipped with x-ray service, EKG equipment, and limited on-site laboratory service.
Patients who need continued primary care for management of chronic conditions (such as hypertension, diabetes and asthma) are referred to the primary care practice physician.

Dr. Byrd previously served as the Emergency Department and EMS Medical Director at Granville Medical Center. His long history in emergency medicine includes work in the neighboring communities of Henderson and Louisburg. He recently served as an Urgent Care Physician for both NextCare Urgent Care and Physician Solutions Urgent Care.

"What I like about serving in a walk-in practice is the sense of satisfaction I get when I can offer immediate help to someone who is suffering," said Byrd. "Including a personal touch is important to me in managing patient care."

He also has vast experience in Occupational Medicine. His practice in this area is to follow the patient from the initial injury through the final disposition, either back to work or referral to a specialist. He handles coordination of care with physical therapists, nurse case managers, workplace safety officers or human resource managers. His experience with Occupational Health also includes drug screens, pre-employment physicals, hearing tests, and pulmonary function tests. In partnership with local employers, he has visited several industries to better understand the workplace environment and how it will relate to particular injuries.

"Granville Medical Rehabilitation is right here in the building at SGMC. That makes it convenient for our patients when they need physical or occupational therapy," said Dr. Byrd. "We have streamlined the process by putting everything under one roof.”

"Granville Health System is pleased to have Dr. Byrd caring for patients at South Granville Medical Center,” said L. Lee Isley, CEO of Granville Health System. “His experience in emergency medicine and walk-in care fills a need for the area.”
