Granville Health System Welcomes Dr. Christopher Sorrels to Granville Primary Care, Oxford
Granville Health System is pleased to announce that Christopher Sorrels, M.D. is now seeing new patients at Granville Primary Care, Oxford and providing quality care for the entire family. Dr. Sorrels is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine (ABIM) and Pediatric medicine (ABP).
Dr. Sorrels’ dual certification, known as Med-Peds, is held by fewer than 4,000 physicians in the United States and signifies that he has equal training and education in both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. Dr. Sorrels is experienced in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered care for families. This type of care leads to a relationship between a physician and a family group that encompasses family dynamics as well as an understanding of a family’s medical history.
Dr. Sorrels previously served as an urgent care physician in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he provided emergency medicine for both adult and pediatric patients, delivering care that included the management of acute and chronic medical illnesses. He has also served as a physician for a pediatric critical care transport practice.
“Dr. Sorrels is a good fit for our health system” said L. Lee Isley, CEO of Granville Health System. “His training, background and experience will provide great flexibility in his approach to delivering care in Granville County. He is able to address a patient’s health needs during every stage of life from infancy through adulthood.”
Granville Primary Care, Oxford was formerly known as Granville Internal Medicine. The practice recently underwent a name change to reflect the increased range of integrated health care being offered through GHS primary care practices. Granville Primary Care is built on a medical home model of care, designed around the needs of the patient and aims to improve access to quality care. The medical home model also offers integrated care allowing for seamless navigation of the other services the health system has to offer such as urology, cardiology, surgical services and behavioral health.
"I love primary care," said Sorrels. “It allows me to treat patients across generations and form a relationship with the entire family. I’m excited to be a part of Granville Primary Care’s expansion of pediatric services while continuing to deliver the highest level of adult care and family medicine here in Granville County.”
