Granville Health System Celebrates Historic Milestone with First In-Hospital MRI Now Serving Patients

Granville Health System is proud to announce that its first MRI machine located inside the hospital building is now installed, operational, and serving patients—marking a historic milestone for the organization and a significant advancement in healthcare for the community.

While MRI services have long been available on the GHS campus, this is the first time in the organization’s history that MRI technology has been housed within the hospital itself. The addition improves access, enhances convenience for patients and providers, and further strengthens the hospital’s diagnostic imaging capabilities.

The new MRI is one of the most significant milestones in GHS’s expansive Imaging Project, which began in Fall 2025 to modernize imaging services and transform the patient experience. Since the project launched, the Imaging Department has undergone extensive renovations and equipment upgrades, including the addition of state-of-the-art technology designed to provide higher-quality imaging and improve access to care for the communities GHS serves.

“This is a defining moment for Granville Health System,” said Melanie Hobgood, Acting Chief Executive Officer. “Our Imaging Project reflects the organization’s commitment to continually investing in our facilities, our technology, and, most importantly, our patients. Seeing this MRI up and running is a testament to the dedication of our employees and partners who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.”

Bringing the MRI into the hospital required careful planning and coordination among numerous departments and partners. From preparing the space and completing renovations to safely transporting and installing the highly specialized equipment, the project was made possible through the dedication of employees across the organization, including Facilities, Imaging Services, Information Technology, Clinical Engineering, Nursing, Environmental Services, leadership, construction partners, and many others.

MRI technology provides detailed images that help physicians diagnose and monitor a wide range of medical conditions, allowing for earlier detection, more accurate diagnoses, and improved treatment planning. With the MRI now located inside the hospital, patients can receive these advanced imaging services in a more convenient and integrated care setting.

Granville Health System extends its sincere appreciation to every employee, contractor, and partner who contributed to the success of the Imaging Project. Their expertise, teamwork, and commitment have helped bring this transformational investment to life and will positively impact patient care for years to come.

The completion of this milestone underscores Granville Health System’s ongoing commitment to investing in the future of healthcare and delivering high-quality, compassionate care close to home. GHS remains focused on providing the technology, facilities, and expertise needed to meet the evolving healthcare needs of Granville County and the surrounding region.
