Celebrating Service: Granville Health System Recognizes Volunteers
Granville Health System recently celebrated the remarkable contributions of its volunteers during the annual GHS Volunteer Services Appreciation Banquet held at Thorndale Oaks. The evening recognized the individuals who generously dedicate their time and compassion to supporting patients, visitors, and staff throughout the organization.
“Our volunteers play an essential role in the experience we provide every day at Granville Health System,” said Renita Timberlake, Director of Volunteer Services. “Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to serve help create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who walks through our doors.”
During the banquet, GHS highlighted the tremendous impact volunteers and chaplains made throughout Fiscal Year 2024–2025. Together, volunteers assisted with 27,209 patient and visitor greetings, 22,078 appointment assists, 392 wheelchair assists, and more than 500 directional assists across the health system. In addition, chaplains completed 302 visits between January and December 2025, providing spiritual support and comfort to patients and families.
“At Granville Health System, we know that exceptional care goes beyond clinical services. It is defined by human connection,” said Adam McConnell, Chief Executive Officer of Granville Health System. “Our volunteers bring that connection to life in a powerful way, and their contributions are a vital part of the experience we provide every day.”
Collectively, GHS volunteers contributed an impressive 5,810.25 volunteer hours during the year, reflecting their continued commitment to enhancing patient access, navigation, and overall hospital operations.
Volunteer Services and Spiritual Care have also experienced significant growth over the past year in support of patient-centered care and community engagement. Since November 1, 2025, Granville Health System has welcomed eight new volunteers and nine new chaplains. The program currently includes 25 volunteers and 31 chaplains serving throughout the organization.
GHS also recognized the importance of investing in future healthcare professionals through seven internships provided to Granville County students in the past year.
Granville Health System extends its sincere gratitude to every volunteer and chaplain for the meaningful difference they make each day through their service, compassion, and dedication to the community.
