GHS Art Gala Proceeds Help Foundation Meet 5-Year Goal

OXFORD, NC (January 29, 2015) – The Granville Health System (GHS) Foundation announced its sixth annual Art Gala raised more than $100,000 in support of Granville Health System. The successful event fulfills the pledge made by the Foundation in 2009 to raise a half-million dollars over 5 years to support the expansion and renovations at Granville Medical Center. This year’s event attracted more than 200 members of the community.

The Art Gala featured more than 80 raffle and auction items including hand-crafted art and photography by local artists, pottery, sports packages, tickets for the performing arts and culinary experiences. Also on the auction were trip packages for Asheville, Carolina Beach, Kiawah Island, Nashville and Quebec City, Canada. The auction was co-conducted by William Adcock and WRAL-TV Sports Anchor and Granville County-native Jeff Gravley.

“Five years ago, we set a pretty bold goal,” said Gary Bowman, President of the Foundation Board. “Thanks to the generosity and support of this community, we were able to invest a half-million dollars into the health of our community.”

In fact, staff from our Tell Me Now Action Committee from Granville Health System attended the event. This is a group of front line staff currently driving the program and interacting with patients and their families every day. They were in attendance to serve as a visual reminder to the community of the gratitude of both the Foundation and of GHS.”

Planners of this spectacular event included Chairperson Martha Wrenn, Carolyn Blackwell, William Coley, Ginnie Currin, Lauren Currin, Julia Day, Andrea Endrusick, Melissa Isley, and Marshall Tanner.
