GHS Celebrates First Cohort of Nurse Residency Program Graduates
Program Provides Education and Mentoring to Nurse Graduates
Granville Health System, a North Carolina rural health care provider, today announced the completion of its first cohort in the GHS Nurse Residency Program.
Upon their graduation in May 2022 from nursing school, the cohort entered the GHS Nurse Residency Program in July 2022. The group met once a month with support from departmental leadership. Each session brought new learning opportunities and chances to hear from a diverse group of speakers.
“Research shows that new nursing graduates benefit from education and mentoring support while they undergo the transition from student to professional nurse,” said Ann Marie Holtzman-Wheeler, Chief Nursing Officer, Granville Health System. “The GHS Nurse Residency Program was created to improve nursing recruitment and retention and expand new graduate’s opportunities for continued learning and provide built-in support.”
The Nurse Residency Program will continue with a new cohort of May 2023 graduates starting the program in July 2023.
