Granville Health System Begins Offering COVID-19 Vaccines to adults age 65 and Older This Weekend
Granville Health System will continue vaccinating older adults against COVID-19 on Saturday and Sunday, January 16 and 17.
New state guidelines have lowered the minimum age requirements to 65 and older. The system follows the schedule of the NC Department of Health & Human Services to vaccinate anyone 65 years or older, regardless of health status or living situation. Due to the very limited supply of the vaccine, only individuals with a confirmed appointment will receive the vaccine at Granville Health System.
With a confirmed appointment, the vaccines will be administered as a car visit on Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm each day at Granville Primary Care & OB/GYN in Oxford. The clinic is located at 110 Professional Park Drive, on the campus of Granville Medical Center.
The health system will continue offering COVID-19 vaccinations on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the remainder of January from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm in the same location for those 65 years and older. An appointment for these vaccine clinics is also required.

Independent state and federal public health advisory groups have determined that the best way to fight COVID-19 is to start first with vaccinations for those most at risk, and then reach more people as the vaccine supply increases throughout 2021. The state and federal public health advisory committees made recommendations for who to vaccinate first based on the very limited supplies being available. The health system will continue to also vaccinate eligible priority 1a healthcare workers and long-term care staff and residents.

The health system has implemented a process to administer the limited number of available vaccines, following guidance from the state,” continued Snow. “Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we begin this historic and essential service for our community. As the number of vaccines increase in our community, we look forward to being part of the public health response that provides care and promotes well-being for our community.”
