Granville Health System Celebrates a Christmas Day Baby

Nathan Don Cox already has perfect timing and he’s just a newborn. Baby Nathan was born at 8:51 a.m. on December 25 to become a rare Christmas Day baby. Nathan, who weighed 6 lbs. 2.5 oz. and measured 20” long, is the son of Heather and Josh Cox of Buffalo Junction, Virginia. Nathan is the first child for the Cox family.

“I’m so glad I chose Granville Health System for my delivery,” said Heather Cox. “All the staff were so wonderful and so caring.”

Chief Nursing Officer Ann Marie Holtzman-Wheeler and Ashley Martin provided care for the new family. Martin, who is a clinical instructor for Vance Granville Community College (VGCC) for labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care, was the lead nurse on the unit that day.

“I was happy to come in and help out so that our nursing staff could spend some time with their families,” said Holtzman-Wheeler. “At Granville Health System, our work revolves around the needs of our patients and we are pleased to provide care every day of the year for this community.”

The new family received a Christmas stocking and tee shirt for the new baby along with a take-home meal and a gift bag from Pampers.

“I can’t imagine a better experience for a first-time mom than the care I received at Granville Health System,” said Cox.
