Granville Health System Celebrates Dedicated Healthcare Workers During National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week

Granville Health System (GHS) is delighted to join the nation in honoring its dedicated hospital and healthcare workers during both National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week. A series of events and activities will take place, commencing on May 6 at GHS’s main campus in Oxford, to recognize the exceptional work of its devoted team members.

National Nurses Week, observed from May 6 to May 12, acknowledges the invaluable contributions of nurses and the nursing profession within communities. The week kicks off with National Nurses Day on May 6 and culminates on the birthday of the legendary nurse, Florence Nightingale.

National Hospital Week, scheduled for May 7-13, 2023, underscores the vital role that hospitals, health systems, and healthcare workers have in supporting and engaging with their communities. This year’s theme, “We are Healthcare – Caring for Patients; Strengthening Communities,” emphasizes their collective impact.

“We have organized a series of events and activities during National Hospital Week to express our gratitude to our staff members for their dedication and the compassionate care they provide to our community,” said Adam McConnell, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Granville Health System. “GHS is committed to delivering quality patient care in Granville County, with the goal of promoting well-being, accelerating healing, and inspiring hope.”

During the week, GHS will host an employee gathering at Tobacco Wood Brewing Company in Oxford and welcome Drizzle D’s Doughnut Truck on campus to offer doughnuts and coffee to staff members. In appreciation of their service, community partners such as Southern Snow Company, Bliss Nutrition, Strong Arm Baking Company, Plumpeez Deli, and Deep South Bar & Grill will extend special discounts to GHS employees. In addition, various GHS departments will organize fundraising activities throughout May, with proceeds benefiting the GHS Foundation.

“Granville Health System is fortunate to have so many dedicated medical staff, support staff, medical technicians, nurses, physicians, and skilled nursing caregivers who serve Granville County and its neighboring communities with unwavering commitment,” said Ann Marie Holtzman-Wheeler, Chief Nursing Officer of Granville Health System. “Our staff consistently put others first, making sacrifices daily to care for those in need. We are immensely proud to recognize and celebrate their efforts.”
