Granville Health System Celebrates Imaging Department Improvements with Ribbon Cutting

Granville Health System recently celebrated the completion of significant renovations and technology upgrades to its Imaging Department with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking an important investment in diagnostic imaging services for patients throughout the community.

The Imaging Department renovations began in October 2025 and continued for nearly a year, with renovations completed in phases to allow Imaging Services to remain operational throughout the project. The work represents a significant investment in modernizing the department and expanding the diagnostic imaging capabilities available to patients at Granville Medical Center.

The project included a new Fluoroscopy Room, digital X-ray room, CT scanner and Nuclear Medicine SPECT/CT system, as well as the installation of a new MRI within the hospital building.

While MRI services have previously been available on the Granville Health System campus, this project marks the first time an MRI has been housed inside the hospital building, providing patients with greater convenience and accessibility.

“These improvements extend beyond new equipment and renovated spaces, they are about making sure our community has access to the diagnostic services needed to support quality care, close to home,” said David Smith, GHS Board Chair. “We are incredibly proud of what this project represents for our patients, our providers, and the future of healthcare in our community.”

The completed project represents a major step forward for healthcare in our community, bringing advanced imaging technology and expanded diagnostic capabilities closer to home. Patients now have access to sophisticated imaging equipment and technology that, in many communities, may require a trip to a larger medical center. Having these capabilities available right here at Granville Medical Center is a significant investment in the health and well-being of the people we serve. These new resources give our physicians access to the detailed diagnostic information they need to make informed decisions and help ensure our patients can receive more of their care close to home.

A Community Investment

A project of this scope required the collaboration and dedication of numerous individuals and organizations. Granville Health System extends its sincere appreciation to the Imaging Department team, GHS leadership, physicians, clinical and support staff, Facilities and Engineering teams, Information Technology, project managers, contractors, architects, equipment vendors, and other project partners who contributed to the project.

Special recognition also goes to the Imaging team who continued caring for patients throughout the renovations, adapting to construction activities, temporary changes in workflow. and equipment transitions while maintaining their commitment to patient care.

“We are grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this project to completion,” said Melanie Hobgood, Acting Chief Executive Officer. “Projects like this take tremendous coordination, patience, and teamwork. Our staff and project partners worked together to keep services available while this transformation was taking place, and we are thankful for their dedication.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together GHS leadership, members of the Board of Trustees and GHS Foundation Board, physicians, staff, community leaders, and project partners to celebrate the completion of the project and the expanded capabilities now available to patients.

The Imaging Department improvements are part of Granville Health System’s continued commitment to investing in healthcare services, technology and facilities that benefit the communities it serves. To learn more about our Imaging services, visit ghshospital.org/imaging.
