Granville Health System celebrates Nurses Week with Blessing of the Hands Ceremony
On Monday, May 6, 2019 Granville Health System kicked off the celebration of National Nurses Week with a Blessing of the Hands ceremony. This interfaith, non-denominational ceremony is a hospital tradition that has been practiced around the world for centuries.
“The Blessing of the Hands is one of our most special traditions that the nurses at Granville look forward to each year,” said Anne Marie Holtzman-Wheeler, GHS Chief Nursing Officer. “Nurses have committed their professional lives to serving people through compassion, wisdom, and love. This blessing provides a spiritual experience for those who participate to reflect on the ministry of healing and the privilege of providing care to patients,” said Holtzman-Wheeler.
The Blessing of the Hands ceremony was led by GHS Volunteer Chaplains Bishop Richard Williams from Refuge Temple of Oxford and Pastor Jeff Hensley from Hester Baptist Church of Oxford.
