Granville Health System Foundation Cancels Annual Art Gala
The annual Art Gala hosted by the Granville Health System (GHS) Foundation has been canceled.
The event had been scheduled for late-November.
Gary Bowman, Chairman of the Foundation and GHS CEO John F. Snow made the announcement this week. The 2020 event would have marked the twelfth annual Art Gala.
Bowman said, “The Foundation Board has been discussing the Art Gala for months. We have tried to make it work within the current COVID-19 restrictions, but, ultimately, the logical decision was to cancel the event for 2020.”
“The Art Gala represents an opportunity for our community to recognize and support our community hospital,” said Martha Wrenn, Foundation Board member and Chair of the Art Gala, “We hope to allow for those types of opportunities in a different format – events that we can host within the current COVID-19 climate.”
Planning is underway for opportunities for individuals and businesses to support Granville Health System. The Health System uses the funds raised by the Foundation to help meet the healthcare demands of the area. This includes support for the state-of-the-art Emergency Department built in 2013; a new CT scanner for Granville Medical Center; and the remodeling of South Granville Medical Center which houses both Granville Primary Care, Butner-Creedmoor and Granville ExpressCare.
“The Art Gala is a one of a kind, remarkable event. I, along with so many patrons of Granville Health System, will miss the opportunity to celebrate and recognize our community hospital and the excellent care our team provides for Granville and surrounding counties,” said Snow. “COVID-19 has placed a spotlight on the exceptional care from the Granville Healthcare Heroes and heightened the need to provide financial support from our community for our remarkable health system.”
“We thank you for your understanding of this hard decision,” said Bowman. “We will make plans for replacement events. In the meantime, please consider making a gift to the GHS Foundation for whatever amount you would have spent on the evening (tickets, auction items, wine pull, raffle ticket, new clothing, babysitter).”
