Granville Health System Appoints Interim CEO
The Granville Health System Board of Trustees held a special called meeting on January 30, 2023. The Board appointed Chief Financial Officer Adam McConnell interim chief executive officer effective 5:00 p.m. on January 31, 2023.
Mr. McConnell has more than twelve years’ experience serving in various roles in healthcare finance. In addition to serving as CFO for the past five years at Granville Health System, Mr. McConnell has served as CFO at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro South Carolina and as assistant CFO and interim CFO at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville, North Carolina. McConnell, together with Chief Nursing Officer Ann Marie Holtzman-Wheeler and Chief Human Resources Officer Melanie Hobgood, will provide stable, dedicated executive leadership through the transition. Board Chair David Smith said, “The Board of Trustees believes it is important to provide our executive team the support and resources they need to assure a smooth transition as we begin the process of recruiting a new permanent CEO.”
The Board further announced that the Board Chair and counsel will work with the executive team to identify five to eight executive recruiting firms with significant healthcare experience to present to the Board for further review. The Board plans to narrow the list to three search firms that will be interviewed by the Board. Following those interviews, the Board will select a firm to lead the search for a new CEO. Mr. Smith also thanked CEO John Snow for his more than four years of service to Granville Health System. Mr. Snow will be available as a consultant to assist with the transition until April 18, 2023.
