Granville Health System To Resume Non-Essential Surgeries and Procedures
Granville Health System (GHS) announced that it has resumed some non-essential, non-emergent surgeries and procedures. At the request of state and federal officials, Granville Health System suspended all elective and non-urgent procedures and surgeries effective March 23, 2020. This was done to preserve personal protective equipment, to provide for hospital surge capacity in the event of a rapid escalation of COVID-19 cases in the community, and to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Fortunately, many communities, including Granville County, have not seen a surge in COVID-19 cases. The cases that have been identified in our community have been cared for without straining our medical resources, so it’s important to resume care for those who have ongoing healthcare needs requiring a non-emergency procedure or surgery,” said John F. Snow, Chief Executive Officer of Granville Health System. “Granville Health System is prepared. The hospital and physician practice locations are clean, safe places for care whether you are seeking emergency care or a surgical procedure at Granville Medical Center or a physician visit at one of our many physician office locations.”
Granville Health System is in the process of scheduling surgical patients who were delayed in the past few weeks. Patients may receive a call from their healthcare provider with detailed information.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the health system has put into place some enhanced safety measures designed to keep safe its patients and staff.
- Granville Health System has restricted all visitation; however, patients may be accompanied by 1 caregiver in the physician practices and in outpatient services like laboratory, imaging, and surgical services.
- Patient and caregiver entry into Granville Medical Center is limited to the main entrance and all persons are screened for coronavirus symptoms upon entry.
- Social distancing of 6 feet is encouraged at Granville Medical Center and physician practices, when applicable. Waiting areas will have seating spaced at least 6 feet apart.
- Facemasks are required upon entry into Granville Medical Center. Patients without a mask will be provided with one upon entering the facility.
- Enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes for all GHS facilities.
