Granville Health System to Vaccinate 2,300 Against COVID-19
Granville Health System (GHS) will offer more than 2,300 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday, March 20, 2021. All appointments for this Saturday’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic have been filled. With a confirmed appointment, the vaccines will be administered as a car visit on Saturday, March 20 from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm at Granville Primary Care & OB/GYN in Oxford. The clinic is located at 110 Professional Park Drive, on the campus of Granville Medical Center.
The system follows the schedule of the NC Department of Health & Human Services (“NCDHHS”) to vaccinate those listed as:
- healthcare workers and long-term care staff and residents;
- those in our community who are 65 and older;
- anyone working in child care or in PreK-12 schools;
- frontline essential workers;
- adults at high risk for exposure and increased risk of severe illness*
*The state defines “adults at high risk for exposure and increased risk of severe illness” as anyone 16-64 years old with high-risk medical conditions that increase risk of severe disease from COVID-19 such as cancer, COPD, serious heart conditions, sickle cell disease, Type 2 diabetes, among others, regardless of living situation. Also, anyone who is incarcerated or living in other close group living settings who is not already vaccinated due to age, medical condition, or job function.
GHS continues to vaccinate according to the NCDHHS vaccination schedule, including essential workers not yet vaccinated, by appointment only on additional days and times posted at ghshospital.org/COVID19Vaccine.

GHS sought and received approval from the NCDHHS for this special vaccination event for Granville County and the north central Region of North Carolina with the support of community partners, including the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments, Franklin-Vance-Warren Opportunities, Inc., the Kerr Area Rural Transit System, Vance-Granville Community College, Granville County Public Schools, and the Granville County Human Relations Commission. The collaborating entities offered support for the GHS request.
With the assistance of staff and community volunteers, GHS has hosted more than 30 COVID-19 vaccination clinics since December 2020. More than 16,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered from the Granville Medical Center campus in Oxford, NC, including planned doses for the upcoming weekend event.

The use of community volunteers has been essential to the health system since they began offering community vaccines.
