Granville Health System Introduces Sam Perry Memorial Scholarship Memorial Ceremony
Granville Health System (GHS) held a ceremony on Friday, May 15 to introduce the Sam Perry Memorial Scholarship.
The event was held at Granville Medical Center. In addition to formally introducing the scholarship, the program paid tribute to Sam Perry, a well-known local health care professional who passed away earlier this year.
The Granville Health System Foundation established the scholarship fund in honor of Perry, a physician’s assistant (PA), whose specialized medical care had earned him deep respect from both patients and peers throughout his career. The Granville Health System Board of Trustees and GHS Foundation Board agreed to establish the scholarship during a monthly meeting held earlier this year. Perry, himself, had also served as a trustee on the GHS Board for a number of years.
Mrs. Gaye Perry and her son, Jeremy Perry, were presented a memorial plaque by L. Lee Isley, GHS Chief Executive Officer. “Granville Health System is proud to introduce the Sam Perry Memorial Scholarship,” said Isley. “The scholarship supports the health system’s commitment to provide the community we serve with the very best health care delivered with compassion and pride. Sam provided this level of care and we will continue supporting this mission.”
The ceremony included an opening prayer delivered by Reverend John Yount and a tribute from previous coworkers from Triangle Orthopaedic Associates, Ralph Liebelt, MD and Steven Winters, MD. “Sam earned a tremendous amount of respect and admiration from the community,” said Winters. “This honor is well-deserved and reflects the high level of appreciation for Sam’s work throughout his career.”
Gary Bowman, Chairman of the Granville Health System Foundation, spoke on behalf of the foundation and its commitment to the program. “The scholarship underscores our health system’s dedication to customer service and clinical quality by supporting the education of rising health care professionals in our community,” said Bowman.
