Shared governance in nursing promotes shared decision-making and nursing empowerment by promoting nurse’s engagement in decisions impacting processes, policies, and procedures at the point of care. At GHS, nursing shared-decision making through our Unit-Based Councils and Nurse Advisory Board provides direction and support for the professional practice of nursing at GHS. This allows nurses to have a voice on vital and necessary changes that occur throughout the organization as well as share ideas and achieve outcomes through effective and innovative methods.
Nursing professional development is the lifelong process of active participation in learning activities that assist in developing and maintaining continuing competence, enhance professional practice, and support achievement of career goals. GHS supports our nurses through multiple professional development opportunities to get a head start in your chosen field, continue your education and further your career.
Nursing professional development also includes orientation programs, individualized training and customized preceptorships, tailored to your nursing area or specialty.
The Clinical Advancement Program is one way GHS offers nursing professional development. This program provides voluntary career advancement opportunities, including additional education, increasing levels of responsibility, and financial reward, reflecting upward progression on the clinical ladder. By demonstrating expert knowledge and skill proficiency at designated levels, nurses can participate in the Clinical Advancement Program, designed to take the nurse’s personal and professional development to a higher level.
Nurses who participate in the Clinical Advancement Program have the opportunity to climb our clinical ladder and earn compensation, while giving back to our community through meaningful activities that directly impact our patients, family members, and community.
Nursing is an incredibly fast-paced job. Taking care of your patients and making sure they’re well-educated is both your responsibility and passion. But, are there some other ways by which you can immensely help not only your patients, but yourself too? Whether you are wondering about various procedures, patient treatments, usage of medication, or anything within your specialty, you can be informed about all these things on nursing forums.
The Nurse Forum at Granville Health System gather nurses from all specialties within the health system. Our very own nurses are participants on the forum discussions, so you can have the freedom of asking them about anything professional or clinical. We have some of the most experienced nurses on board, willing to share their knowledge which gives you a chance to learn a lot.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced nurse, the Nurse Forum provides a wide range of discussions covering various nursing specialties, practice settings, and healthcare topics that will afford you the opportunity to learn from the experiences of seasoned nurses; gain insights into best practices; and stay updated on the latest advancements in your field.
